Please check if you all read : curve minimal at the bottum of the welcome page .
I noticed with help of Don that most of you looked to the other forum layout. All settings are changed back to what it should be.
Curve minimal is the right layout.

Forum issues: under attack....
« Reply #36 on: February 23, 2011, 09:50:02 am »
Dear members,

Last weeks, many forums have been attacked by several spam robots including this forum.
They try to login with the names they spot in the posts.
Thats why now all names are hidden, if you read the posts as guest.
One other thing was that because of this abuse of usernames, the forum logged automatically the user out.
Some of you noticed this....

I have installed a handfull security forum modifications last days.
If you notice any unregular things happening, then please send me a PM.

Regards
Steve

Forgive me if my understanding of this is wrong, but... Since you are trying to hide names, does it matter that the front page of this forum has all the names listed under members? And also, at the bottom of the same page all new posts are listed with the corresponding poster. Does this pose a threat too?

Hi Bubz,

The bots are scraping the names out of the posts in the topics accoording to the programmers of this forumsoftware, so there is the need the greatest.
The modification did hide a lot for guests. As you can see, no guest can access the memberlist.
The only place a guest can read names is in the infocentre where the newest posts are displayed.
Maybe the programmers will adjust that to soon.
Please logout and look as guest.
If you see anything that doesnt look as i descriped, then please let me know... ;)

There is an option to hide the whole forum for guests and you must login first to see the topics.
This forum must be an open forum and not a closed one. But if you have another opinion, just let me know.
