Since your using half phase and not single phase it does not matter how you hook the primary, however it does matter which side you put the diode on.

For example, if you pulse high then stop, the diode will pass current on the primary pulse off time.

For example, if you pulse high then stop, the diode will not pass current on the pulse off time, because it passed it on the pulse on time.

The above depends on what side of the secondary you have your diode on, and which way it is blocking.
Do you want the diode to kick on during the Pulsing on time or  pulse off time? One way is better than the other since a collapsing field can kick the diode on.

Myself, i just grab some measuring tools to determine which way is best.

one more thing...i have been looking at this tiny opening of a hole in the center of this toroidal core and i am pretty sure i would not be able to fit 200 turns and 600 turns of wire through it at all......so can i use bare copper wire instead of insulated?

i do not understand your post, are you making jokes?

it will all fit just like stan said, only if you use the core he said to use. Smaller cores can be overlapped.

Take you a computer power supply and get the core from it, wrap it on it as it will not all fit. It will be very close, you can get 200 and 600 on these cores if you overlap. No you cant use uncoated wire.

if you saw how small this core was.....with a 1.5 inch diameter.....and you have 24 gauge insulated copper wire...you would then realize that after 200 turns fitting another 600 turns of 36 gauge insulated might be incredibly impossible.

i have 2 of the things sitting in front of me.....and it seems as if this will be a task even a machine would find difficulty.....do you have this sitting in front of you?...im looking at it now and i can tell. no jokes. i may have never built a transformer before but i know a sqaure shaped object will not fit in a triangle shaped hole so to speak....i am obviously going to try anyways, but seeing that this is my first time building something like this and i will not have the access to a machine bare with me.....would you happen to have built this already?

It's not impossible nor hard at all, actually its very simple to do and will only require about 2 hours on the secondary if your good.

Here is a 1.25 inch core with about 586 wraps.

are you using enameled copper coated wire?....now i whipped out a quarter and as i can see my opening is smaller then yours plus your seems to be a tad bit higher....stan didn't give 3 dimensions only 2 so i'm not sure how hiehgt affects this.......have you tested the output of your transformer? i'm very interested to see what its voltage ouput is with these specifications.....thank you.

Hydrocars,

Great to see you posting again.  Sweet looking cell also.  Very professional looking indeed.
