Starting from square one
« on: August 13, 2008, 05:34:43 am »
I was wondering if some one was bored enough they might start a thread called "start here" or something on the alternator, and describe why I would want to use one and what to do with it when I get it , wiring etc. what circuit do I need to build? How would I apply it to the automobile etc. I realize every thing is here if I wanted to spend a couple of months researching every thing, and I will, But somethig like this would be very helpful for every one that comes through and is over whelmed like I am. Or perhaps someone would just post a thread link to a starting point, reading material etc. I do have an electronics background but this is my third night of spending several hours reading and still dont know where to start, I already have the cell built , but I'm dissappointed with the out put. I'm going to buy an alternator this week.
I know This would take someone 30 minutes to write, but it would be well appreciated by
I am sure more folks than me. thanks .

Here is what I was looking for, this is the beginner information left out of the alternator topic.

I use a stock 69 chevy alternator, w/o regulator. But it does have a diode bridge.

I did manage to get the regulator out, the hard part was unsoldering the windings. I had to use a grinder and a propane torch. I did do it without melting anything. Here is a link to a simplified block diagram of the alternator with an internal regulator for all first timers.

I guess someone did start a thread, "start here" me lol!  I think I have the alternator setup and have been playing here. Here is what I gather so far. This website is dedicated to Stanley Meyers research but the technique has been altered slightly.  Here we are using the alternater for its ability to create 3 phased harmonics with no external voltage to the rotor, utilizing  pulsed dc from the output to reach 3 phased harmonics. This will hit the resonance frequency of the water.  What has been confusing is every one is trying different approaches. I still don't understand why some people remove the diode bridge and run wires out the back of the alternator and then hook the diodes back up. According to hydro's schematic, you dont have to change the diode setup. After you remove the regulator, All you would have to do is run a wire from the rotor+ brush to the battery terminal on the alternator. This would be the same as the schematic. The rotor - brush is already hooked to ground so it is already hooked to the - output of the diodes. so running 1 wire to the output of the alternator then to the cell and run a wire from the case or ground to the cell. Is this right? This will get you unregulated power to the cell? This is using out put of the stator to feed the rotor, kind of like a phased lock loop, Then vary your speed with your motor. The second step would be to build the fet. regulator circuit
so the alternator can be used on an automobile at any speed while regulating at your tuned frequency.

I have tried this and I am using a 3/8 drill 3000 rpm variable , directly to the alternator. If it's hooked up right "which it is probably not" I should see some bubbles some where in there. Something is happening . I see crud being shook of of the cell. I havn't seen any bubbles  yet, and when I go over a certain rpm the alternator loads down bad. Well this is as far as I have gotten for now. Again since this thread is for new comers I hope it helps up to this point. Maybe some of the more experienced pro's will input since we have done some home work.  cheers!

I have looked at your schematic. I was wondering if you would elaborate when you say you get more power out with this diode configuration. It appears to me to be an ordinary alternator schematic. Could you  please explain what is different about it?
