Alternator behavior

HI Guys

Still not experimenting WFC as not received yet few items.
However "playing" already with the Alternator and its 200watts driving electrical motor.
Yes, intentionally  I picked a "weak" engine to know imediately when I will be overloading , or driving to much current.

I always thought that torque, or mechanical work force on alternator is present just and only when there are load on the stator.
Yesterday, I appiled 7 V DC to the rotor ( ALL the windings in stator are open and even yet connected to diodes)
It was acting as a powerfull brake. I estimate from 3000RPM down to 700RPM.

Is it familiar to you?

Another 2 questions:

1) When a single square pulse is applied to the rotor, after how much time does it appear on the stator in other words delay?
    ( Did any one perfromed that with scope?)
2) How is affected the pulse on the stator (shape, timing, duty cycle, offset, amplitude) when increasing or decreasing the rotor speed.
  Lets say the applied pulse on rotor is constant 300 Hz , +5V peak to peak, 2.5V offset.duty cycle 50%
