atleast if your going to be working with high voltage and a resistor, atleast know what your doing, look for voltage drops to gain more knowledge. its as easy as typing in google, voltage drop resistor

http://www.bcae1.com/resistrs.htm

also note, just because both wires is not used, this does not mean that there is 0 resistance, if this was so then you would not get arcs, so ambient air has resistance. Actually the resistance of air is very high.

blocking diode = de-Q-ing diode,
tank capacitor = wfc,
rotary firing rate = pulsing rate,
inductors = bifilar choke coils.

H2,

The TC in this circuit is one of the Bifcoil chokes?

the spacing you talk about is so incredibly tiny...what amount of voltage would you think would break apart the water?......i just recently purchased 18 tubes outers are OD .75 inch, wall is .065..... inner tube is .5 inch wall of .035....my spacing is .185.....around 4.7mm.....is this far too much of a space... i am planning on pumping in around 20kv to 40kv.

Wow, thats an interesting experiment Kinesis!
I must say that i ll go with H2O at this moment...
But, go where no man has gone before...I like that ! ;)

Yes, it can't hurt to try.
