I read about venting the tubes on one of the threads yesterday by I think it was h2o but I don't remember now. Anyway, today I vented one of my tube sets to try this theory out. What I learned was meant by venting the tubes is to add a 1/4" slot in the upper outside tube about 1.5" in length depending on the length of the tube. For long tubes, it was supposed to be 1.5" and for shorter tubes somewhat shorter but no length of the slot was given for shorter tubes. I vented my 4" test tube 1.5" with a 1/4" wide slot. There was a real difference. Like the thread said, my tube could breath. I noticed first off that many larger bubbles were now comming off the tube set. My gap is 1.5 mm and before I vented the outer tube, my bubbles were very small. My water used to cloud up almost immediately, and now it stays pretty clear.
I haven't tested my amps yet but I am working off 12.2 vdc directly off a variac. I have no diodes yet and no pwm but there is an appreciable difference in the quality of the bubbles released. Thanks for sharing the venting scenario with us.
