yes, it does.

Pulsed dc only brings a nasty wave into your coil, but yes. You can use it into a coil of a transformer.
Another point is that a wire or core is also a coil. So, you will have a field around it that can be picked up by another wire or coil.

why did you do that to your cell? is it because you want it to spin?

choke cores magnetize and demagnatize at certain speeds, soft iron is ok and will work to atleast 1000 hertz. getting amps and delivering them is 2 different approaches.
