How to get variable amplitude pulsing during the gate time

Thought I'd share it here as I've had several people ask me about this circuit.
This circuit allows you to have a variable amplitude pulsing during the 'Gate' time. I originally designed it for use with a PLL so I wouldn't lose lock when the gate turned the circuit off. I only had the circuit on a breadboard and did not write down all the changes I made to the final circuit before I removed it and replaced it with a different circuit so this is the best I can do for now. Its pretty simple once you see how the two signals (Gated pulse train and the Pulsing) are merged using a few 2N2222's and a pot.
