Dear all,

Most of us know that a bifilar coil has a high capacitance.
How about this: If we use in Meyers schematic a bifilar coil, is that like putting a capacitor in front of  2 normal choke coils?

recently i have thought a lot about the bifilar and the most important application i find is to have most coupling and perfect turn ratio of 1:1

i was thinking lately about using a bifilar to form a center tap and get half wave rectification out of it.. with two diodes...

Let me tell you what i think.
I think Meyer used 2 normal coils as chokes or he used 2 bifilar coils as choke.
Read TWO. Not 1.
Think about it.
If you use 1 bif coil, you automatically create in Meyers circuit a serie and parallel RLC circuit.
If i understand Tad well, he used single coils and in such a way that you only have serie resonance....

A bifilar coil produces two wave forms from a single wave input.  JL Naudin shows that Tesla's bifilar pancake coil will drive Meyer's cell.  But he still had to use a choke, to choke off the amps.



Also, Meyer did not use normal choke coils.  The output from the secondary went to the choke coils, but his choke coils were also secondary windings themselves, being on the same core as the primary.  Therefor, Meyer chokes produce two wave forms, exactly the same as Tesla's bifilar coil.

Well, i want to approach this not the same way as most of all testers and inventors.
The first stage of the VIC is to step up voltage and to turn a squarewave into a sinewave.
I seen that on my scope. It doubles the frequency, as Meyer said.
That part can be done on a single core as the chokes also seem to work fine on an extra set of cores, according to some members.

Steve, each coil has its own inductance and capacitance, and performs like a paralel RLC circuit, when it happens at resonance of itself LC components, it represents a high reactance value and voltage across it.

Dont matter if its bifilar or single wound.

Bifilar is used to both coils match inductance and capacitance of them self
