Interpretation of the VIC coil
« on: May 07, 2008, 02:33:57 am »
After much research and study I still do not understand how the VIC was wound, and what it was built on. I have read that it is identical to the motionless electromagentic generator (MEG), however in one of meyer's patents he claims the VIC Primary and seconday windings are made on a 1.5" dia Torroid core. I'm still confused as to where the chokes are to be in this circuit. Some diagrams show the chokes seperate from the transformer and some do not? Does anyone know exactly this VIC is supposed to be built and what it's supposed to be built on? I really think that if built right the vic would show some impressive results.

I think your going in the right direction h20power, It's about doing the math the way stan shows it in his tech brief, if you get the math any build it to calculations, it's gotta work.

I have since erased the drawing showing the VIC wound on a torroidal corre as it is wrong, after looking at H20Power's pictures and the drawing I think I have it figured out. Thanks H20Power!

I will try to explain this as simply as possible...

The VIC Has 3 bobbin cavities. 2 Inner, and 1 outer.
The inner bobbin cavity contains a ferrite rod in the middle of it which extends throughout the entire length of the cavity!

The inner Bobbin Cavities Include the chokes. One bobbin cavity on top of the other
-The chokes are Bifilar wrapped (2 wires on each) and the wires are spiral wrapped on the bobbins(These wires should be made of 430F or 430FR Stainless steel) to reduce unwanted amp flow

The outer (larger bobbin cavity) includes the Primary coil. ( Wound first so that it takes up the inner part of the outter bobbin cavity as the secondary sits on top of it) The Primary coil is also bifilar wrapped. The primary coil will have 2 wires on each end, each end should have a positive and negative (this is what he means as Bi-Directional wrapped I believe) All other coils have 2 positives on one end and 2 negatives on the other end.

The seconday coil is wrapped over top of the primary coil, the seconday coil is also Bifilar wrapped and the wires are spiral wrapped on the bobbin.

If I made any mistakes, please correct me if I'm wrong!!!

I will try to post a drwaing showing this for everyone when I get more time.

Awesome, I'm still wrapping the whole design up in my head before I build it. Why do you have slots cut in your bobbin cores anyways? Maybe I'm still missing that part on the drawing???

AS far as the stainless steel wire is concerned, I sent in a few quotes for some today, and to my suprise I found out that 430 Stainless steel (which is what meyers chokes use) is magnetic. Hope this answers your question about eddy currents h20power!!! Keep up the great work!!!

i would love to know why everything that seems to be correct and interesting is now gone......"gone".
