Dear all,
I like to share my humble test results of today.
The goal of the test was to create my own reference measurements of an air core, wound in different ways.
3 options: 1 normal coil, 2 bifilar coil in parallel and 3 bifilar coil in serie.
I took one string of wire, which i used in all tests. First i wounded the normal coil and then i cut it in half for the bifilar coil tests.
Not so much done in a test like this is to use a strong magnet with a scale for to measure the strength of the magnetfield of the coils.
Coil diameter of 45mm, single layer
128 turns
Wire 0,5mm
Single coil : pulled 0,77kg at 5,3V/2,95A 0,216uH 0,374mH 2,0 ohm 15,6W
Bif coil parallel: pulled 0,53kg at 1,3V/2,95A 0,155uH 0,098mH 0,6 ohm 3,83W
Bif coil series : pulled 0,78kg at 5,3V/2,95A 0,270uH 0,368mH 2,0 ohm 15,6W
Bif coil series : pulled 0,51kg at 2,6V/1,47A 3,83W
From an electromagnet point of view this test was a little surprise, but on the other hand, it might have been my silly test method.
I expected that the bif coil in series would have been stronger.
Maybe that with a core the results might be different. Or maybe smaller coil, but thicker…..
