Someone's Trying To Patent My Open Source Laser Beam System

If Open Sourcing something - supposedly into the Public Domain - doesn't deter monopolistic activity on the side, is the Open Source arena truly part of the Public Domain?  Rather, must we assure that something which is Open Sourced will also receive Public Domain protection?

Hi Jerry,

First thing to say here, is that i think it is unfair to steel somebody else work and also unfair to patent it.
So what to do?
You can contact the patent office and inform them about your public domain publication. Then they must drop the patent.
If you have money and lawyers, then fight it.

Second thing, Jerry, can you shine some light on this : http://energeticforum.com/renewable-energy/14236-edward-mitchel-disinformation-agent-exposed-h20power.html

Aron is mention your name as the next dis informant.....
I know Edward pretty well, because he was and might be now again, a member here.
He left and went his own way. For me that was fine. He did some show around it, but was fine with me.
He is an experimenter, like many. Has his own ideas and also, like many of us, has do deal with many dissapointments .
I would never call him a dis info agent.

So, whats your story with mr. Aaron? I know his forum for years nows. I know how he behaves if he does not agree with his members, or when a member shoots some critics on him....Not exactly my style, so to speak.

Its up to you if you like to answer. I am just curious... ;-)

I don't know why Aaron has published my name on a thread to expose dis info agents.  All I've been saying is that Aaron is a liar and a thief.  That's not dis info, because I can prove my statements.  And I did see the misspelling of my name, something which is common when dealing with the people of the Pacific North West, where I lived for a number of years, always having to spell my name for them.  Maybe Aaron thinks he can say whatever he want's, without being sued for libel, as long as he misspells my name?  Maybe he thinks he can get away with any kind of abuse, since I didn't sue him the last time.  (That was a very hard decision, on more than one occasion.  But the statute of limitation for libel just ran out last month (June), since it's three years in New Mexico, where his libel did appear on the Internet.)

TechZombie accused Aaron of lying and stealing other people's work. But Aaron hasn't said one thing about the theft accusation, and that's because he knows it's true.  I joined energetic forum in late 2008, because I saw Aaron having a hard time trying to figure out the Gray Tube.  So I showed him a circuit I had published four years earlier (automatically copyrighted under the Copyright Law), and said that I thought he could get some of the same effects with the water spark plug ignition coil circuit, which is what he was using.  Then he immediately copyrighted my circuit, along with a phony explanation of what the circuit does.  This explanation shows that he's never even built my circuit.  He admitted that his copyrighted circuit was what I had posted, and gave me specific permission to use it.  Then, when I did post the circuit to discuss the function of Gray's interrupter switch, Aaron said that that was "his" switch, and that he had "discovered it", then banned me from the forum for "blatantly plagiarizing" his work.  (My own circuit, with the switch shown in Gray's patent.)  He stole my work by putting his copyright on it, then using that fraudulent copyright to prevent me from using my circuit for discussion on his forum.

After admitting that the circuit was what I had posted, Aaron dumped more than one full, really long page of misdirection into the discussion, trying to prove that it wasn't the same as my circuit.  If he stated a dozen times that "the circuits are not the same", each of those lies had malice, because he had already admitted they were the same.  Anyone who says Aaron is a malicious liar cannot be successfully sued for libel.  But Aaron also severely defamed my character.  He spelled my name in giant red letters, saying that if I had any integrity at all I would admit that what he copyrighted was NOT my circuit.  (After he admitted that it was.)  And he also pulled an extortion by threatening to ban me from his forum if I didn't give up my claim to my intellectual property.

To top it off, he spread his fictitious explanation of my circuit's operation around the Internet.  Anyone who sees his article will think the circuit is only a triggered spark gap - no laser effect, and no Scalar 'Puff Spark'.  So Aaron himself has been spreading dis info.  It's starting to look like Aaron has some kind of mental condition, so it's not surprising that he turns it around, accusing others of the very thing he himself has been doing.

But the vicious way Aaron attacked me, and all the 'members' who agreed with him, has caused me to reconsider my habit of open sourcing, sharing my discoveries on the Internet.  And now that I've found that patent application, I'm wising up that there is a difference between 'open source' and 'public domain'.  Merely publishing something doesn't stop competing patents, when NONE are wanted.  Something doesn't go into the public domain until one year after the first public demo, the first public use, or the first offer for sale, NOT the first published discussion.  So what I have to do is demonstrate something, then wait one year before providing the details.  Or, give a brief description with an offer to sell.  Even with an outrageous price which no one will pay, the public domain still kicks in after a year.  But I really am losing interest in the Internet forums, each with it's own Troll, the biggest of which appears to be Aaron Murakami, a master of misdirection, disinformation, and double speak.  And why is it that he doesn't want any explanation of the Gray Tube, other than his own, to be presented on his forum?

I can confirm your observation of Aarons behaviour.
We have our own negative experience with him too.
Thanks for clarifying the public domain thing. Seems that that is a little bit more complex then just publishing notes.
I am just hoping that all the forum crap doesnt take all the fun out of science for you.
If you want to publish things other then waterfuel related projects, then here is the option to do so, in your own project section. Then we point other interested people on other forums to it.

Troll Steve just has one rule. No nasty mudslinging. Sharing an observation like you just did is fine with me.
Even if its against me. I am just human.

Hi Steve,

I define Troll as "someone who delights in disrupting meaningful discussion".  I don't think that quite applies to you.  :)

Hi Steve,

You make a good case for having my own project section.  Sign me up.

Also, what was your guys' experience with Aaron, if you don't mind discussing it?  But you're right about the forum crap taking the fun out of my research.  I was just about done withdrawing from the Internet.  But I'm starting to feel better now that Tech Zombie has come forward and taken a stand against Aaron's tactics.  That's the first time someone has said that Aaron steals other people's work.  Aaron apparently knows he can't deny that one, because he blew it off and didn't say one word about that.  Completely unlike him.

Thanks for the optimism and encouragement, greenee.  Unfortunately, this patent battle is not one I'm willing to devote resources to.  I'm just trying to let everyone know that simply open sourcing something isn't enough to put it into the Public Domain.  Maybe we need a new law to establish a "Public Open Source Domain".  Then if something is published with a statement that it is Public Domain, it will be.

And my thanks to Steve as well, for this site.
