Separated gas output cell Hydrogen/Oxygen
« on: October 09, 2010, 12:39:01 pm »
I'm at the start to build a separation cell and want to share the progress with you all. I collect all the materials and plans and did a first test with only 2 plates and 1 membrane, just to see if it works. The test worked out very well and I'm in a good mood to make this design NegNNNNNPosNNNNNNeg

I got the inspiration from 2 sources on Youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/user/myhydrogencar and
http://www.youtube.com/user/vipond50

It is my goal to make a working cell, put it into my car and get some nice results. If it all turns out well I make a website in the Dutch and English language. No money making, free plans, all open source.

Here a first look at the membrane that I used for the test. The material is uncoated Ripstop nylon.

I do not use square plates because they are cut out used dining plates, see also my previous HHO project.

To be continued.

Hey Donaldwfc, I don't understand what you trying to say with this vid as a respond on my new starting project. I am busy with collecting hydrogen (without oxygen) out of this cell to test it in my car. The main point  is to cut out the hard to adjust EFI.

Good project, Knovos!
This kind of cell will be a great booster!

Looking forward on your progress.  :)

Zero fossil fuels has done some tests for the addition of HHO to gasoline for running internal combustion engines, i think understanding his research, the results of which he points out in this video, will help you save time and money while you are working on your project.

if you are trying to run hydrogen into your car engine to make an improvement on gas milage, you can do this, but it requires a lot of hydrogen, in the range of 15, 20, 30 liters per minute, to see an improvement, and anything less than that is useless.

these are not my conclusions, but his, as explained in his videos.

there is also a research paper from some university in Australia that did similar tests and got similar results, you can find that information from some of smack's videos on youtube

15 to 30 lpm is wrong information. You can clearly see in this vid that a saving of 20 to 25% is easy with a cell that produces only 1 to 2 LPM. All the vids on this channel are a great inspiration. Thanks for your concern.

If your cell is efficient you can improve you milage, but for it to be efficient you need to make it series, to not let more than 2 volts per cell... I don't think that in your case extract the h2 without the 02 is not of benefit, however, add sodium hydroxide ad a bit of alcohol inside your cell and check the milage improvement... alcohol will catalyze the reaction... I could sustain a big yellow flame coming out of water last year... didn't smelled good i think that was because the fire was burning the sodium over the water...

you should not need to adjust your Efi because as you are going to have more efficient burn of the gasoline the lambda sensor will miss oxygen and inject less gasoline... in this case would be of some value injecting pure h2... (if the lambda senses less oxigen (more efficient or more complete burn) it will reduce the gasoline sent to the engine) If you regulate yourself the lambda signal you will change the power rating of your engine, so if you can make it leaner consuming less gasoline but you will have equally less power.

However is good thing to have less power and more km... Is up to you.  The less the power or the less gasoline you inject, more oxigen is available to burn the gasoline you inject so you will have more power per gasoline injected, even without adding any h2.

another thing to do to improve the milage is to heat the gasoline a bit before injection, this assures more complete burn as the gasoline will evaporate better.. industry knows this but is not used because of the standards of safety... witch say that the fuel line should not interact with anything other than the injectors or the pump...

make some tests and report to us...

Thanks

Good luck

Thanks for all your thoughts sebosfato. How the mileage will turn out is something to test. All I know and can see from the myhydrogencar-guys is that they made a separation cell, put the hydrogen in the air inlet, and thats it, immediately profit at the gas pomp (20-25% bingo!) Maybe it is necessary to use the oxygen side of this cell or use the EFI as well to improve the MPG some more. There must be some kind of control of the oxygen channel to adjust the fuel mixture, but that is something to find out later.

I have to build the cell first and that will take a while, and ya sure I will be back here to report what I have found.

regards,

Knovos
