This is really good stuff,

I'm working on modifying a DC-DC step down converter to use synchronized rectification to improve my solar project efficiency.

In did it is but that controller is hard to find.

I did find one source that has them stocked.

www.farnell.com has those IRF smartrectifiers....
Do they switch max 200VAC an meed 20V for Vcc?
