went and bought a multimeter today.. i have a 12 1amp charger that i hooked to the primary and i am reading a output of 40 dc.. and like 90v on ac.. the meter i bought doesnt have a amp meter so thats next on the list..   i know that i cannot run this set up constant on the 12v 1 amp source the alternator will get hot.. im having problems with my polarization circuit so i plan on making another one.. it will work good maybe for gating the variac to the alternator with a varable pulse width and frequency of pulse.

thank you carbed..   slowly but surely... just got back from out of town and im glad to see i have my old/newstock  superior electric variable transformer.. anyone thats looking to get a good deal on a variable transformer i suggest you go on ebay and try to find new/old stock brand name.. this transformer i bought for 135 bucks including shipping... it  a superior electric and is  1.4 kva / output volts- 0-140/ 10 amp
it isnt a complete working transformer you have to buy or build a box, hook up a desired output socket with a fuse in line so if you overload you dont burn it up.. and wire a cord to it so you  can plug it in..

i saw a 22 amp 0-140v output / 240 source one go for like 175

it came in its original box and has a delivery ticket still on the case..
this transformer was sold to eg&g astrophysics reseach in 1993 so its a 93 model brand new.

thanks don..  in the video all i have is the auto transformer being rectified with a 6 amp 400 volt BR  so what you are seeing is with no amp restriction just the varance of voltage across the cell.. i am not sure of the amps since i do not have a amp meter yet.. i know its pushing some amps because the water is getting warm....
