Actually i think that stan used the alternator as the source of the signal for the resonance and used a variable speed motor to tune in to the resonance...


Than he might have controlled the gas generated by raising the voltage in the field coil of the alternator. If he raise the voltage probably raise the load in the motor so he might have needed to adjust to maintain the resonance...
