Hi donald,
When current flows thru the inductor it start storing energy (if air coil will store and store and store because will not saturate) but when the switch open it will collapse the field and discharge all the energy accumulated in the magnetic field all in once inside the capacitor thus it would start to oscillate back and forth. As the energy in the inductor can accumulate in relation to only its resistance i mean if the inductor have 1 ohm of ohmic resistance and 12volts are applied 12 amps would flow thus this 12 amps * its reactance at the resonant frequency, and you can calculate this knowing the capacitance, will be the reached voltage peak. being a resistor in parallel would only matter for the Q factor but the peak voltage would be as much as high because a capacitance is the same as a shot circuit, more than an inductor.
I think this is a very good idea and is quite the same what steve proposed in his NEw DC Resonant charging circuit ...
I just think that we must find a two way for the resonance to oscillate in a dc manner, i'm starting to think that thats what stan did with the so called bifilar coil. however i still don't know...
Regards
Good night my friends
all the best for you all
