Consumed power calculations
« on: September 09, 2009, 23:35:52 pm »
Hi all,

Question:
If you use a squarewave 50/50 for your setup, should we use voltage devided by 2 to get a good power reading?

V/2 x amps = used power

You all agree on this?

br
Steve

yes that is correct , yes for power also . Unless there is some reactive elements . DC pulsed is harder to calculate .

My 50/50 12.04 volts cmos squares waves measure 6.02 volts

Stevie , I believe your chip is damaged , or your probe is showing that .

An Ammeter should measure the amps witch is passing, there are ac and dc ammeters if you use dc ammeter it will measure only the amps that go in one direction so will give you the right amperage, is not important the duty cycle.
