My oscilloscope reads 3 volts on DC setting and 12 volts on + peak setting.. which one do I go by when driving a FET/Transistor?

12v peak.
:)

so 12v peak volts is going to fully turn on a FET with a 3v DC reading? Ive lost one great FET ...s . I SHLD prolly post in forum issubut when I am here my typing goes all over the place and its very frustrating thinking its just this siterew is sometrhginjg definitely wromg here.

testing testing testing testing testing.... seems to be working fine now....
I need to understand the difference between a positive peak reading and a DC reading... I cant find any documents explaining the do's and donts with peak and DC voltage readings regaurding FET's.
