PNP high side versus NPN low side pulsing
« on: December 05, 2013, 22:20:21 pm »
All,

Since we are pulsing a transformer off and on for our VICs I am very curious as to the difference between the NPN and PNP on the secondary pulse result.

I've used mosfets for the low side to pulse many self wound and store bought transformers.  Yet I wonder what the difference is in effect on the secondary if a high side PNP is used instead.

Will the signal be any different and how different is my question.  Are there other effects?  I'll be trying a PNP circuit to find out yet wondered if anyone woud comment on the difference in pulse signal that comes out of the secondary between NPN and PNP?

Please advise.
