Exposure to metal gases and particulates risks are documented with zinc, aluminum, and cobalt gases. There are some association with magnetite
nano particles and  Alzheimer disorders. Thanks to EPG Blue Team for the reference  The exposure to gas and small small particulates
is likely greater than exposure to the ferro-fluids due to the carrier fluid  generally preventing release into the air.\
An exhaust fan or hood and  normal protective gear should suffice for work with the ferrofluid core EPGS

 Most of the  EPG teams are using laminar flow hoods with negative pressure, as well a gloves , eye covering and other  protective gear when
working with the nano sized  metal powders.  Once they are mixed with  aqueous or non aqueous carrier liquids as in ferrofluids the surface tension
reduces the  the release of  the small particles  into the air, thus reducing risk.. Generally speaking it is best to avoid contact with mucous membranes
inhalation or contact with skin.  The vapors of aliphatic hydrocarbons such as the kerosene  carrier liquids in some of the non aqueous ferro-fluids
are best avoided. Non sparking switches and a static spark reduction protocols should be used  as a  standard laboratory safety program.
