No they do not, but Stan used a Redi-line inverter for the early prototype of the dunebuggy. We have pictures of that.
The 8xa was not designed to run on a 12V source (in a car), but was designed for the patent office to demonstrate the electrical polarization process on Stan's plate cell. Stan's original box ran on 120V AC (standard US household voltage). It can, be used in a car if an inverter is used. I have seen this done numerous times successfully...

Great thanks for clarifying. My thoughts are - instead of utilisting an inverter - provide a sine wave source to effectively replace that waveform....?
On the vehicle installations  where they used the 8xa and inverter - were those engines running 100% from the cell?
cheers

No, it is currently being used on vehicles to supplement fuel which results in improved mileage (MPG). The circuit is capable of running a car on HHO alone if more cells were added, but this is not what it was designed for. Stan's next circuit, the resonant driver circuit, is what was used to run the dunebuggy - on water alone.
